Circulation of Knowledge in Europe
Several comments in Ms. Fr. 640, including on fol. 128v, show that the author-practitioner held techniques of metalworking practiced by Germans in high esteem, and he provided detailed information about practices and materials in the German lands. This essay investigates how such knowledge could have reached the author-practitioner.
