Making and Knowing Pedagogy
In this essay, former Making and Knowing Postdoctoral Scholar Donna Bilak presents selected aspects of the pedagogy used by the Making and Knowing Project in its creation of Secrets of Craft and Nature. She discusses structures and principles of the Making and Knowing Project, and highlights two central pillars of the Making and Knowing Lab course: skill building and student reconstruction of the processes contained in Ms. Fr. 640. She underscores the importance of failure in pedagogy more generally, and provides examples of extensions of Making and Knowing pedagogy to a variety of other settings.
