Coming a Long Way, Baby: A Quarter-Century of Russian Women's Fiction

Experience has taught Slavists to expect the unexpected from Russia. They therefore greet with equanimity the glaring contradiction between the premises underlying ostensible publication patterns, on the one hand, and the invalidation of those premises in critical responses to the published materials, on the other. The case of women’s literature exemplifies the paradox.
