Sensory-Guided Strength Training for Cerebral Palsy

Graffius, Charles

Sensory guided strength training for Cerebral Palsy (CP) is designed to complement traditional strength training for individuals with CP, specifically for adults due to the emphasis on an internal focus of attention. This framework was developed through a combination of lived experience with CP, exercise science principles, and motor learning theory. There is a subjective nature to this framework due to the author’s lived experiences with CP modulating the direction of content; however this gives a unique perspective with real-world insights to target the needs and priorities of people with CP. This paper includes a slideshow with an example of these concepts being implemented for an adult with CP. The paper and slideshow are designed to educate researchers, medical professionals, fitness professionals, or for individuals with CP.
