Energy and Climate Change in Quito
Quito has implemented a comprehensive climate strategy that integrates mitigation and adaptation across urban planning, energy, and waste management. Key initiatives include promoting energy efficiency, expanding solar energy, capturing methane from landfill waste for energy, and increasing urban green space through the Green Urban Network. The city also supports planned urban densification to reduce energy use and environmental impacts. Together, these actions aim to lower greenhouse gas emissions while improving climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
