Nakao Nakahodo, Sidney; Jank, Marcos

The analysis of the export basket through the classification into commodities (agribusiness, fuels and minerals, and metals) and differentiated products (high, medium-high, medium-low, and low technology), as well as the breakdown into their respective categories of products, allows you to identify the sectors responsible by the dynamism of foreign trade in recent years. The study introduces the price and quantity contributions to the rise of the value of exports, concluding that the increase in prices worldwide accounts for most of the surge of differentiated product exports. In contrast, the expansion of commodities mainly stems from the rise in export volumes. Finally, the characterization of the destinations shows Brazil as a commodities global trader of commodities and differentiated products regional trader whose trade balance of balance grows only in the Western Hemisphere.
