Women Film Pioneers Project Biographical Data

The Women Film Pioneers Project (WFPP) is a digital publication and resource that advances research on the hundreds of women who worked behind the scenes during the silent film era. Always expanding, WFPP publishes original scholarship on women who worked all around the world as directors, producers, screenwriters, editors, and more.

WFPP features short career profiles on single individuals, covering women who worked in national cinemas across six of the seven continents. This dataset was compiled on December 7, 2020 and includes data on 300 women represented in published pioneer profiles.

This CSV dataset encapsulates key information about these women in tabular form and is organized by the following fields:

Images of the pioneers are not included although URLs for the images hosted on the WFPP web site are listed in the dataset. Please refer to the image captions on the WFPP site for information on individual copyright, licensing, and permissions. Image reuse rights are not encapsulated in the license applied to this dataset.
