Barnard and Columbia Students Perform Two Ballet Russes Classics: Nijinsky’s Afternoon of a Faun and Stravinsky’s Les Noces

“Celebrating Diaghilev in Music and Dance: Afternoon of a Faun and Les Noces,” sponsored by the Harriman Institute this spring to mark the centenary of the first Paris performances of Serge Diaghilev’s legendary Ballets Russes, was conceived by Lynn Garafola and Catharine Nepomnyashchy. The unique event, brought together two landmark works of the Ballets Russes.
