Mapping the Metastasis of Malignancy

Kusama-Morris, Veija

This piece contends that the application of chaos theory as gleaned from the realm of mathematics upon the predicament of ideological extremism and the human rights violations it perpetuates provides a greater theoretical understanding of these contraventions and potentially a greater capacity for the countermeasures that aim to predict their evolution. Not to fix the problem, not to create a foolproof explanation, not to suggest that mathematics in its traditional form can be algorithmically applied to elucidate things. But rather, to give us a vernacular with which to articulate the problem so that we can find a vernacular with which to articulate the solution. To do so, this piece makes its way through tenets of chaos theory before assessing how these concepts manifest within a problem of hate, ultimately considering a way forward.
