Meet Two New MARS Alumnae

Katherine Brooks began her graduate studies at the Harriman Institute with a background in Political Science and Russian from Saint Louis University. "I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the role of various opposition parties in Russia," she recalls. She spent a few months in Bashkortostan, Russia, on a Critical Language Scholarship, and then enrolled in the MARS program, hoping to become immersed in Russian-related events and to study under the professors whose work she had become familiar with during college.
