Dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline through racial literacy development in teacher education.
Schools of education must help teachers recognize the power they have and the agency that is required to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline for Black students. Developing teachers’ racial literacy (Sealey-Ruiz, 2011; Skerrett, 2011) is necessary in order to alter the perceptions and attitudes that teachers often have about them.
