Improving Repositories Through Collaboration

Downs, Robert R.; Lehnert, Kerstin A.; Zhang, Lili; Donaldson, Devan Ray; da Silva, João Rocha

Collaborating to share knowledge and resources among data repositories can reduce the costs of adoption and provide improvements to capabilities for fostering the reuse of data. Such collaboration might involve a small group of repositories or a large consortium. In addition to collaborating on the development and adoption of platforms and services, sharing knowledge across data repositories also offers opportunities to attain efficiencies. Opportunities and benefits for sharing knowledge and resources among data repositories are described along with questions to kindle discussion about these issues among session participants.
