Online Skills-Based Motivational Interviewing Lab: Tools to Prepare Students for Field Education

These are the slides from a conference session at the 2021 Social Work Distance Education Conference.

This interactive workshop focuses on a skills-based Motivational Interviewing (MI) Lab piloted with first year distance education MSW students. The MI Lab equips students with a humanistic approach encompassing engagement skills appropriate across diverse populations and field settings. During this workshop, participants will learn the lab design, outcomes, and students’ feedback on how this skills-based lab improved their confidence and performance in field education.
