This resource guide contains three workshops for K-12 teachers and education to use musical instruments and songs from Latin America and the Caribbean as means to engage with civic issues. Workshop four is suitable for K-5 through K-9 and teaches students how to turn trash into musical instruments. Workshops five and six analyze contemporary Latin American songs, which speak of the region but also with a civic purpose. The guide is the second and last volume of a Professional Development Series produced by ILAS in collaboration with Urban Arts Partnership.
