Founders of Small Tin Works
“Founders of small works of tin” on fol. 80v contains a detailed description of the technique for making a stone mold and casting metal into it. This entry gives insight into a technique likely used for producing pilgrim badges that is not treated in other contemporary written sources. This essay recounts the reconstruction of this process, and it speculates on how and why the author-practitioner engaged with the practice.
