Los Angeles Megacities Carbon Project
The Los Angeles Megacities Carbon Project quantifies urban carbon fluxes using a combination of surface and satellite measurements, top-down atmospheric analysis, and bottom-up fossil fuel emission estimates at building and street scales. The project aims to improve understanding of the urban carbon cycle, reduce uncertainties in city-scale CO₂ and CH₄ emissions, and support climate mitigation strategies. Lessons from Los Angeles are informing global efforts to monitor and manage carbon emissions in diverse megacities.
