The Fabulous Grace of God: on revolutions in gay styles of dramatic literature through the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis in America

Mineo, Alessio

Although gay dramatic style had evolved to a state of greater visibility and pride after the Stonewall Riots, the AIDS crisis changes the way gay men are represented onstage, offering gay playwrights the opportunity to formulate a new vision of the gay man after HIV. Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band, HArvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy, Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, and Tony Kushner's Angels in America are all examined.
