Bibliographic Control of Special Collections: Issues and Trends
Includes an overview of U.S. cataloging and standards work in the area of special collections ca. 1980-1986, with an emphasis on the integration of rare materials cataloging into local and national automated systems. It also proposes a set of goals and objectives for the rare book and special collections community including the development of additional standards, the creation of national collaborative bibliographic initiatives, and engagement with new technologies, including digitization.
