Dans le discours silencieux: Étude sur trois photos de la guerre d'Algérie

Schreiber, Bianca

Photographic theory is utilized to visually analyze three black and white photographs from the French-Algerian war. These three photographs, taken by the French government during wartime, and only recently published online by the French state, were presented by France as visually accurate narratives of war. I discuss why this is an impossible feat because a photograph is a visual object that can only tell the story of what is trapped within the subjective information of the picture.
