Overall Stanley finds the book well produced, but discusses the work in regards to the technical aspect of publication and other musical measurements. These are reasons enough to heartily endorse this study, which is further enriched by its biographical and cultural historical material. Kinderman's Beethoven will set the standard for many years to come.
