Summers, Lawrence H.

"Today, few would seriously doubt that in this new global economy, strong foreign and security
relationships are built on strong economic ones. Nor, happily, would many doubt that the Joint
United States-Japan Framework for a New Economic Partnership established in 1993 has helped us
better understand the common ground that exists between our two countries and, critically, act on
that agreement to achieve positive change."
