Latinismos, palabras patrimoniales y soluciones perifrásticas en la práctica traductora del siglo XV: el caso de Alfonso de Palencia

Alles Torrent, Susanna

This paper analyzes the etymological use of Latin words versus Romance terms in a set of translations done by Alfonso de Palencia. During the XVth century, translation becomes one of the most important bridges to recover the Classical legacy, the vocabulary and the syntax sometimes reflect this willingness to approach the Latin language and culture. Our goal is to identify this cultural and intellectual trend through the use of terms in several versions from Latin to Spanish.
