Addressing Rampant Violence in Native American Communities

Violence is rampant in Native American communities with American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) children facing exposure to violence at rates higher than any other race, and AI/AN women facing murder and rape at four to ten times higher than the national average. This brief looks at the shocking statistics, the inadequate response by the justice system to date and the recommendations for improvement.
