Third and Fourth Waves of Russophone Immigration to the USA

Gitelman, Zvi

This presentation lays out population figures of Soviet Jews from the onset of World War II to the present. The professor traces the reasons for changes in the population of Jews living in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia, including the Holocaust, war combat, decreased birth rates, and emigration. He then focuses extensively on the migration of Russian Jews from 1971-2007 to Israel, the USA, and Germany.
