Public Health and Asian American

Grant, Megan Sarah; Smith, Raymond Arthur

This issue brief discusses the health disparities among Asian Americans due to cultural/language barriers and socioeconomic status. Asian Americans face cultural and linguistic barriers that may discourage or prevent them from accessing health care services available to them. Varying cultural values and beliefs of diseases also put constrains on these individuals from seeking proper care resulting in diagnosis of diseases in the later stages leading to untreatable conditions.
