The Hour of the Star Or Adaptation of a Novella Or Existential Crisis Or An Exercise in Abjection Or The Real Or The Essence...: A Thesis Paper/Collage/Experiment/Experience

Malina, Dara R.

There exists multiplicity in the lessons I have learned by confronting/analyzing/dissecting Clarice Lispector’s The Hour of the Star and taking it into the realm of performance. In this paper, I will share my analysis of this work, utilizing critical texts and examples from Lispector’s novels. Then, I will detail my process from adaptation through production and after. And while this thesis paper is limited by pages and time, my relationship with Clarice Lispector has just begun and at this point, is limitless.
