The Reconstruction of a Medicinal Plaster
The reconstruction of the recipe on fol. 66v for preventing the swelling of breasts makes clear the problems of reconstructing historical medical recipes. The curative aim of the recipe is not clear. Plant materials are difficult to identify and to source, and testing of the efficacy of the substance produced is neither feasible, safe, nor ethical.
