The Perzine Is Political: Critical Thinking with Casual Texts was a summer course for pre-college students. The class met four days a week for 2.5 hours per session plus a weekly field trip or bonus time. My motivation was helping faculty and administrators at my college to understand zines as research resources, as well as creative alternatives to research papers.

The primary critical information literacy considerations were close readings of zines, which are media created by people outside of typical publishing pipelines.
