Sexual Assault in Islamic Religious Spaces and Strategies for DV/IPV Prevention & Intervention in Muslim-American Communities

Muslim-Americans are an understudied population in sexual assault and DV/IPV research. While there are increasing studies about the religious and cultural factors influencing vulnerability to assault, more quantitative research needs to be conducted to understand the population-level prevalence of DV/IPV incidents. The literature indicates effective strategies to prevent and intervene instances of DV/IPV from training religious leaders, support service providers, and educating the Muslim-American community about sexual violence.
