Animals Dried in an Oven
Divya Anantharaman came to the Making and Knowing Laboratory in fall 2016 as Expert Maker in residence, where she reconstructed entries from Ms. Fr. 640, including “Animals dried in an oven” on fol. 130r, for preserving animals intended to be displayed as lifelike specimens. This essay records her responses to the early modern methods she encountered in Ms. Fr. 640 and the reconstruction she and the Making and Knowing Team undertook.
