This new edition of Rhea Galanaki's feminist series of 24 prose poems The Cake (1980) includes an autobiographical preface by the author and excerpts from my study of her poetry in Kassandra and the Censors (Cornell 1998) translated by Palmira Ismiridou (Agra 2002). My translation of The Cake can be found in The Rehearsal of Misunderstanding (Wesleyan 1998).
