Vaclav Havel at Columbia

Fall 2006 was an exciting time for those in the Harriman community interested in East-Central Europe. At the invitation of Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger, Václav Havel, the leading dissident in communist Czechoslovakia and, later, the first President of both post-communist Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, spent seven weeks in residence at Columbia.
