Climate Resilient Urban Landscape in Western Parkland City, Sydney, Australia
This case study exemplifies the role of landscape and nature-driven design to create a regional urban landscape that is climate resilient. By taking the soil, elevation, topography, water and ecological systems as the basis, the urban development can be directed allowing for greater flexibility in adopting climate impacts, such as flooding and heat stress.
Implementation timeline: 10-25 years. The case study is a mid to long-term spatial view, which is planned to be implemented in the next decades, as part of the urban development of Sydney’s Third City, the Western Parklands.
