Each summer, the Hertog Global Strategy Initiative in the Department of History at Columbia University brings renowned experts and policy makers to Columbia University to deliver weekly public lectures and work with students in the program. The topic of the summer 2012 lecture series is "The History and Future of Religious Violence and Apocalyptic Movements." Harvey Cox is Hollis research professor of divinity at Harvard University. An American Baptist minister, his research and teaching interests focus on the interaction of religion, culture, and politics.
