Economics originator text Articles 1969 English Indian agricultural policy discussion has taken place against the background of a trend rise in agricultural production, especially of foodgrains, which has fallen sufficiently short of the growth in demand arising from income and population growth to require continual and significant import of foodgrains under the P.L. 480 program. In consequence, economic analysis has largely been concerned with questions relating to agricultural price and distribution policy, and also the economic efficiency of alternative forms of land tenure and agrarian organization.
